Birmingham photographer publishes botanical portraits books
Laurie Tennent is a Birmingham photographer with an international representation. Known for her dramatic botanical images, her work appears in private and public collections including the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Kresge Foundation and the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. Water, plants come together for Garden Club's 'By the Lake' show
Floral designers will go head to head using lakes from around the world as their inspiration as part of the upcoming Garden Club of Michigan's "By the Lake" Garden Show Sept. 20 at the Grosse Pointe Club, 6 Berkshire Place in Grosse Pointe Farms. Seven different lakes, including Lake Como in Italy, Lake Ikeda in Japan and Loch Lomond in Scotland, will be the inspiration for various classes of competition at this year's show. And all of these entries will be on display at the garden show, which runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 20 and is free and open to the public. All told, nearly 100 exhibitors will compete in a variety of categories, including photography and botanical arts (which includes botanical jewelry.
